Great feedback from Education Scotland, CLOtC and AQA

We are thrilled that Lessons from Nature is being complimented by many education and environmental education organisations. It has received great compliments from AQA, the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom and Education Scotland. Julie Wilson, National Development Officer Outdoor Learning, from Education Scotland explains:

“Development officers at Education Scotland were impressed by the values based approach you have taken in the materials and also by the focus on environmental, social and economic well-being which builds on strategies for developing ecological literacy and skills for learning, living and working in a complex and changing world”.

Beth Gardener, Chief Executive, from CLOtC:

“These are really valuable materials which fill a gap in provision, giving teachers much needed support to help them tackle the big issues faced by society, and engage young people in real life learning.”

Introductory Module in the UK

Great news! Epping Forest Field Centre in the UK is maintaining the legacy of Lessons from Nature and will continue to provide this unique learning opportunity to schools. The course has now been added to their standard course provision. They have also promoted this in their newsletters to schools.

Lessons from Nature for KS2 by popular demand!

Lessons from Nature for KS2 by popular demand!

The Lessons from Nature project has received a great deal of interest from a wide range of educators including KS2 teachers. We have listened to this high demand and have adapted the current programme to suit KS2 groups. This adapted programme uses a range of discovery activities to explore enduring principles (including multiple benefits, waste equals food and diversity gives strength) from nature that can be applied to the human world and used to help solve big sustainability issues. The KS2 programme has already proved a great success with a number of primary schools participating. Feedback from Bridget Monk from High Beach primary describes “A great variety of high quality, learning rich experiences. A very well organised and engaging leader. The children all learnt and enjoyed”.

LFN takes over Bulgaria

The lessons from nature have taken over Bulgaria.

In the past couple of months LFN apostles Kamen and Stoyan (TIME Foundation) have travelled across the country to spread the LFN gospel (LFN modules "Waste equals food" and "Multiple benefits"). They have now reached over 127 teachers from over 70 schools, NGOs, outdoor learning centres, etc. They can't wait to get some more feedback from the students, as they are in theprocess of developing a third, highly philosophical module.
